Hello there!
Thank you for visiting Gary O’Farrell Architects. We are a  vibrant architectural practice based in Cork.
We live, eat and breathe architecture. It is the oxygen in our lives and we are always looking to combine our passion with your dream idea. We focus on creating those ideal living spaces in home design, specifically for your needs.
WHAT WE DO
While we are a young practice, Gary himself has over 20 years’ experience working in architectural design & construction. In the process we have worked on many projects in a variety of locations across Ireland and the UK.
We have years of experience in the domestic sector, from large scale master planning of residential housing schemes to ‘high end’ one off designs tailored specifically to our client’s needs. Experience of commercial projects has been in a wide spectrum of sectors from Primary Care Centre’s, supermarkets, mixed use neighbourhood centres, medical centre’s, retail, creche facilities, hotels and residential care homes.
HOW WE DO IT
When approaching any new project, we take full advantage of our wide range of skill sets. By applying a variety of these tools to a brief, we transform these words into a concept design via hand sketches and 2D drawings. The concept solidifies as the design process evolves, layering levels of information as we progress. We reach a point where we have a fully developed design. Here, using 3D modelling software as an interface, we can connect our clients with their designs via interactive walk through’s and virtual reality simulations.
WHY WE DO IT

Above all, it is the human experience that is at the heart of any GOFA design and will always be put front and centre. Building around this of course would be the latest applications of architectural philosophy, considerations in sustainable design while keeping affordability of construction a constant topic of conversation.

We relish the challenge!

Originally educated in Cork Institute of Technology, Gary graduated with a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and 3D visualizations. He gained his early experience as a structural/architectural technician, then over the years into the role of senior architectural technician, working on a multitude of project types in all sectors.

Gary received his architectural educated in UK where he studied at Oxford Brookes University School of Architecture, Oxford. Here he gained his RIBA Part 1 Certificate & RIBA Part 2 Diploma in Architecture. He completed his Part 3 Examination in Architecture with RIBA North, Liverpool. He is on the Architects Registration Board in the UK, a chartered Architect as member of RIBA and registered member of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland. In 2017 after gaining years of experience in practice, Gary set up GOFA, beginning a long held dream of creating a practice of his own.

Gary O’Farrell Chartered Architect,
BA (Hons) Arch, Dip. Arch, RIBA, MRIAI

Gary has a very driven, very focused personality. Applying both of these traits to each of his projects, he is meticulous in his detail. Gary believes that at the core of any project, above anything else is the client and their aspirations. Interaction and communication are key to getting to the heart of these . From there the design can develop to truly be tailored to their needs.

This is the basis for GOFA’s founding principles. It is how we approach every new project, and each new challenge….
